The maximum time which does not exceed 143% of the course length allowed for students to complete
each program at satisfactory academic progress is stated below:
The maximum time allowed for transfers students who need less than the full course requirements or
part-time students will be determined based on 70% of scheduled hours. If a student exceeds the
maximum time frame, they will be withdrawn from their chosen program.
Branford Academy requires students to progress through their program toward graduation within a set
and standard timeframe. Based upon the school’s requirement for 70% attendance, the maximum
timeframe during which students are to complete any Program is 143% percent of the published Program
length. This quantitative measure of progress will be reviewed at 450, 900 and 1200 hour checkpoints for
cosmetology and 300 hour checkpoint for esthetics and 450 & 900 for barbering 25 for Lash Tech & 50
for Nail Tech.. If at any time it is determined that a student is unable to complete the program within the
maximum established timeframe, the student will be deemed to be in unsatisfactory progress and
therefore may be terminated from the program. Maximum timeframes for each program are:
Cosmetology 1500 hrs.: 2145 scheduled hours
Barbering 1000 hrs. 1430 scheduled hours
Esthetics 600 hrs.: 858 scheduled hours
Nail Tech 100 hrs. 143 scheduled hours
Lash Tech 50 hrs. 71.50 scheduled hours
Any student who falls below 70% attendance is advised that they may be in jeopardy of not completing
within maximum time frame. A student in this situation must increase the cumulative attendance average
immediately. Failure to increase the attendance rate by the next evaluation period (as applicable) may
result in termination from the program. Please note students receiving Veterans benefits will be
terminated from the program at this point and may appeal in accordance with Branford Academy’s appeal
policy after the termination has been processed.
Official Evaluation Periods: Satisfactory Progress is officially determined according to evaluation
periods for each program. The student will receive a written notice of the official SAP determination
including a description of actions required should the student be deemed to be below IIC SAP standards.
A student that is below the SAP standards at the time of official review will also be expected to meet with
a student advisor to discuss the actions they should take in order to achieve a satisfactory standing by the
next official evaluation period.
Official Evaluation periods are based on actual time completed and completed as follows:
Cosmetology 1500 hours: 450, 900 and 1200 hours
Barber 1000 hours: 450, 900 and 950
Esthetics 600 hours: 300 hours
Nail Technician100 hours: 50 hours
Eyelash Technician 50 hours: 25 hours
Transfer student evaluation periods are based on the total number of hours for which the transfer
student is contracted. A transfer student will have at least one official evaluation prior to the
midpoint of the contract length or at the time of evaluation periods described above, whichever is
earlier.
