Branford Academy offers financial aid for those who qualify, in order to complete their cosmetology and esthetics courses. Many potential students think that they can’t receive financial aid or federal loans because they don’t have good credit, however this is simply not the case!
There are two different types of loans that are offered: credit-based, and need-based. Federal Student Loans are considered need-based loans, which means that the student’s credit is not considered in the application process. Students who have defaulted on previous loans may not be able to qualify for another loan. To apply for student aid, students can visit here. Once on the website, students should create a four digit pin which is also later considered their electronic signature. They can then proceed to fill out their Free Application for Federal Student Aid. They should make sure to have their previous years’ tax information nearby, since they will need to input some of that information! Once students put Branford Academy’s school code in (041288), the results from the FAFSA will be sent directly to Branford Academy.
Once received, the financial aid office will contact the student with their results, and let them know if they are either Pell-eligible, or loan-eligible. Pell grants are gifted money from the government, which doesn’t need to be paid back, while federal loans have low interest rates, which have a forgiveness period of six months after graduation. So, if you are interested in attending Branford Academy and starting a career in cosmetology, don’t be put off by financial aid. It is very possible that you will qualify, and you can be on your way to a great education in no time at all!
