Inside the Heads of Students at Branford Academy

Have you ever wondered what makes the students at Branford Academy tick? Do you want to know a little more about what it its like to be a student, or how they chose the path to their future? Below is an interview with four current students at Branford Academy: Monica, Tommy, Erika, and Angelica, who are all enthusiastic about sharing their experiences at cosmetology school with you!

Interviewer: Why did you decide to come to cosmetology school? What inspired you?

Monica: I decided to come to cosmetology school because I wanted to do something different with my life and have options in my career.

Tommy: I needed a career, and I love to work with senior citizens. I took care of a family member who passed away at 92. She inspired me to work with seniors.

Erika: I am a people person and I enjoy seeing someone happy with themselves. I think I can make lots of people happy with my work and dedication.

Angelica: I love fashion, doing hair, and transforming ordinary to extraordinary.

Interviewer: Why did you choose Branford Academy instead of another cosmetology school?

Monica: I chose Branford Academy because of its location.

Tommy: Branford Academy offered financial aid, it is close to home, and I have only heard good things about it.

Erika: I chose Branford Academy because of convenience. I am married and have two children (one in school), so it is close enough to home.

Angelica: I chose Branford Academy because of location, price and what they had to offer.

Interviewer: What are 2 or 3 things you LOVE about your school experience?

Monica: I have met a couple of wonderful friends, I have learned so much about hair, and I realized I should have done this earlier.

Tommy: My teachers, the ladies in charge in the office, the friendships I have made, and the fun we have each and every day.

Erika: Since I have been here I have learned a lot. I like coloring, haircuts, and hairstyling. I can’t wait to learn nails and facials step by step as well!

Angelica: Meeting new friends, girls night out hair shows, and I know I am hard sometimes but everyone still takes the time to deal with me and still love me.

Interviewer: What has been your biggest challenge so far?

Monica: I haven’t come across any so far.

Tommy: Overcoming my nervousness, which I am still trying to work on.

Erika: Coloring, up do’s and perms.

Angelica: Color is still my biggest challenge.

Interviewer: When do you plan on graduating, and what is your plan for the future?

Monica: I plan on graduating in July, and my future plan is to work in cosmetology and also as a dental assistant.

Tommy: I plan on graduating in January although my last day as of right now is February 1, 2013. I am always here and have put so many extra hours in. I plan on working with senior citizens.

Erika: I am planning on graduating by the end of November, and my plan for the future is to work with a franchise like Ulta or JC Penny so I can continue to get more education, and get the experience, and then work my way up from there.

Angelica: Hopefully I will be graduating soon! My future plan is to open my pretty lil thing Blow Dry Bar / Boutique.

Interviewer: What do you like to do in your spare time?

Monica: In my free time, I like to spend time with my family.

Tommy: I sing in the choir at church. That is my true passion, and I started when I was 11 years old and in the 6th grade. I also have a unique passion for playing the pipe organ. I taught myself how to play. I love to hang out with my two friends I have made here at school and going to concerts at my church.

Erika: In my free time I love to cook, bake, clean and spend time with my family. My family are very important to me and I put them first before anything. Also, I watch videos on youtube about hairstyling, haircutting etc… anything that has to do with cosmetology!

Angelica: Learning new hair styles and making jewelry.
